The food world is undergoing a revolution
How can we feed 10 billion people in 2050?
Every day, the world population grows by 200k people. Within the next thirty years, the global demand for animal products is forecasted to increase by up to 80%. Producing only 1 kg beef requires over 15k liters of water and up to 9 kg of grain. Our over industrialized agriculture already accounts for more than 14.5% of global CO2 emissions, is the largest freshwater consumer and a major cause for deforestation.
In addition to the negative environmental consequences, today's diet also has direct social influences: Long, non-transparent supply chains are boosting corporate profits at the expense of social ills in developing and emerging countries worldwide. And although more than 800 million people in these countries are suffering starvation, over 1.3 billion tons of food are wasted every year around the globe.

What do we want to eat in the future?
Vegan and vegetarian, gluten- and lactose-free, regional and seasonal or slow food and clean eating – food in the 21st century forges our own identity. What we eat (or deliberately omit) expresses the individual lifestyle and our personal moral values. Across generations, nutritional patterns are increasingly questioned - based on an ecological, collective and ethical conviction...
...or because of personal health considerations. Today, the individual reduction or abstinence from meat consumption is no longer associated only with pure animal welfare but has been adapted increasingly by flexitarians driven by the desire for inherent wellbeing and an enhanced awareness of associated risks such as cancer, diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular diseases.
